Peace

I'm finding it difficult to get back into the swing of blogging with what is going on in my neck of the woods.  The events happening in Baltimore and surrounding areas are on our minds constantly that I can't turn it off yet.

Looking at the National Guard in the streets that I love and frequent is quite scary.  I had plans to go downtown this weekend with everyone to enjoy the harbor and the spring, but plans have changed.

I'm praying for peace.  I'm praying for people to no create copy-cat riots.  I'm praying for strength for the city.  I'm praying for the officers protecting the civilians.

Be back soon.

But this is my city

I wasn't born in Baltimore, I don't live in Baltimore, but living a short distance from the city itself for almost 20 years my heart is broken.

Understand that justice is deserved, that there needs to be actions for the lives lost.  Understand that violence and looting does not lift your voices higher.

Baltimore is a great city, Baltimore has great people. What is happening right now is not for the man who died.

Let's take a message from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr:

The old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.

Praying for peace.

I'm in

Sometimes you need something unexpected to kick start your week.

Ed Sheeran doing a cover of "I'm In Love with the CoCo" should do it.

Sigh, I'm completely and undeniably in love with this kid.

Happy Monday, let's do this.

Carry On

I haven't bought a new every day bag in a long time.  The last one I got was for my birthday last year from my mom.

I'll give you a minute to recover from that statement.

I'm always on the lookout for my next baby for the family, in red of course.

If you haven't been paying attention, it's OK, welcome to the family. I have been buying solely red bags since I was 16 and had a magical experience in Nordstrom.

I am partial to the GiGi bucket bag, but I'm trying to wait for a sale to get a little of a discount. Also the Coach bag is called "Swagger", which makes me lust for it more.

If any of these appeared on my doorstep I wouldn't ask questions.

Link Love

I feel like life is getting exciting.  The weather is turning around, skirts and dresses are out, I'm drinking Coronas again.  So much more to love.

Yet another reason why I will never live in Ohio willingly.

Kind of want to start a GoFundMe for this bag.  I need it in my life.

Jessica took me back when I used to visit Hilton Head while in SC in the summer.  I need this back in my life.

Courtney Kerr is making me rethink my ban on denim on denim, of course. I cannot wait until the wedding madness if over and I can cut my hair like hers too!

Need to put things into perspective, get lost in this. If your heart doesn't melt you're not human.

Dreaming of my happy place. See you in July guys.

I've got a girl crush.....

Last night was the ACMs, which is basically a 4 hour country music concert.

What it means to me is the countdown to summer. Country music is about windows down, beer drinking, white shirt and jeans.

And if you don't mind go to Itunes Country charts and just download everything. It will help with your Monday.

I'll be over here dreaming of Miranda Lambert's black and white jumpsuit and hair.

Because You Asked Me To

This woman. This voice. This song.

I can't even.

Kelly Clarkson has been one of my idols for as long as I can remember.  She's strong, independent, kick ass and her music cuts into you like no other.

This song isn't her own but it's the kind of soul you need to get you through a Friday.

Have a lovely weekend.

Cover Me

Once it's finally summer, and I'm finally able to lay by a pool and get my tan on, I never want to take that bathing suit off.

To me nothing screams summer love like bathing suit straps peeking out of clothes.

Looking for the perfect cover up to go from poolside to running errands, boozy brunches, or a night out is essential.  I favor a dress or romper because it's easy to throw on.

Roll down the windows, open the sunroof, blast Luke Bryan.

God I miss summer.

Pump

Life is hard for a girl who loves to eat and doesn't love to work out.

I don't mind working out, I usually get into a groove, but actually trying to get skinnier isn't fun.

Usually this time of year I'm training for a half marathon, and that isn't to get skinny, it's to get my ass across the finish line at the end of 13.1 miles.

With both my sister and my mom's weddings this year I'm trying to get said ass into shape.  I've started Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide, which is kick ass and muscles in my stomach hurt I didn't even know I had.

Part of the workout is a few days of cardio of some form.  This is where she loses me. I've been trying just some simple fast walking on the treadmill in my basement while catching up on Southern Charm, but since the weather is improving I feel the need to get outside and try new things.

I have an fear of exercise classes, mostly in part to those scary ass instructors who always ask who is new at the beginning then watch you like a kindergartner carrying a sharp knife for the rest of class.  Back up off me bro.

Reading about Hallie and Dana becoming a part of the SoulCycle cult makes me wish the closest one wasn't over an hour away from me. Hallie's blog helps with motivation and inspiration to get into gear and Dana's snapchats remind me to get my workout in.

Do I splurge on the waterproof Ipod and get back into swimming laps?

Do I do the hot yoga my sister pesters me to go to? Because I don't sweat enough in yoga normally.

How do I keep motivated on my BBG "days off"?  Thoughts? Ideas? Fat shaming?(Joke)

Until I Made My Getaway

This weekend was made up of moving, allergies, good makeup, patio drinking, sweat pant drinking, laziness and best friends.

I'm ready to kick this week's ass.

Getting back on my blog game.

Kicking ass.

I'm Not Dead

It was a bit of a whirlwind of a week. A lot of driving, a lot of waking up early, and a lot of stuff.  Getting back into the groove of the usual week was not easy and I'm more than happy to see the weekend.

Craving carbs after a long week made me turn to this super healthy alternative.  I added chicken meatballs and pesto instead of the other things.

Hallie helps outline the realities of making a blog a job.  Oh hey poetry Friday too.

Having dreams on how I could pull off this dress Courtney rocked in my life and not look like Ursala.

These dainty babies finally came back in my size so I ordered them as quick as my fingers could click.

Being full on obsessed with chia seeds and Bethenny Frankel I feel I have to try this ASAP.

About Last Night

Last night was probably one of the coolest things I've gotten to do, ever.

I spent hours in the car, didn't sleep a ton, but it was worth every second.

Spent most of the night with my head on a swivel just taking it in and wishing my Wildcats were there. I have a soft spot for Coach K so I was happy with the outcome.

I'm so lucky I got to do this with one of my oldest best friend. She probably is the closest thing I've ever had to a cousin in my life.

I'll barely be functioning on Wednesday but it was totally worth it.

Roll the Windows Down and Cruise

Some days aren't bright and shiny.

Sometimes coffee doesn't fix everything, shocking I know.

Go take a drive, roll the windows down and blast some angsty girl music.

Little Big Town's Girl Crush is perfect when you aren't feeling 100% up to snuff.

The go home and pour a glass of wine.

xoxo,
Erin

P.S. This song is being pulled off country radio in some areas because some think it's "promoting gay agenda".  Just when you think the world is moving forward.
Open your ears, it's about that little piece of all women who have a hint of jealousy over a girl the man they want is with/after.  And if it was about an actual girl crushing on a girl, grow up, who cares.

Long Tan Legs

This small glimpse of weather above freezing is giving me visions of dresses, and dresses without tights in particular.

One of my favorite things is picking out the new bright and crazy patterned summer dresses every year.

You can dress them up to wear to work or with flip flops, but the only accessories you really need are a good tan and a beer.

Now if the weather will just hold onto the sunshine I can make these dreams something real.
